Vintage Jockstrap packaging, boxes and
tags: Volume 3 Below is a collection of vintage jockstrap advertisements and
package/box photos from the 1900's. Some brands include
Johnson and Johnson, K-mart, Keystone, Litesome, etc. To view the

Johnson & Johnson
Coach jockstrap with
3" waistband from the late 1940s or early 1950s. The pouch is "all-webbing
elastic for maximum support and protection."

The V-front construction of this early 1940s Johnson & Johnson
Junior Varsity supporter
was designed to "lift the pouch and keep the support centered."

A 1940-era Johnson & Johnson
Rugby V-front wide-band
supporter. Rugby wide-band supporters were worn by United States Army
Paratroopers during World War II.

This vintage Rugby V-front's
6" waistband is designed with V-Front which provides an upward and inward
lift for the abdomen and "vital zone."

A 1940s Johnson & Johnson
Swimmer with one blue
tracer line around the waistband. The box came with a free 29¢ travel
size Johnson's Medicated powder.

Swimmer all-elastic
supporter.

This Johnson & Johnson
Trump jockstrap is almost
identical to the one I found hanging on the locker room door in junior high
school.

The original K-Mart
cotton athletic supporter from the 1970s.

Keystone jockstrap made
in 1946 for U.S. military paratroopers by the Keystone Coat & Apron Mfg.
Corp., Philadelphia, PA. It was packaged in a printed brown paper bag.

The Litesome standard
supporter from I.S.C. Ltd. Sportswear of England offers extremely comfortable
support for all active sports. As the box says, "Many national champions
choose it to protect their most vulnerable areas."

Another Litesome standard
model supporter from "John Hurtley & Son Ltd., Keighley, Eng." Very subtle
advertising at the bottom of the waistband label says, "Wash with Lux!"

The English Lonsdale
is one of only two or three jocks in my collection that actually refers to
itself as a "Jock Strap" on the box. The other is the Bike No. 7110 shown
on Collection 1.

Male-Aid incontinent
supporter from "Murray Salk, Inc., Boston 34, Mass., Established 1937." This
jockstrap was "hygienically recommended for men and boys to protect clothing
and bedding from wetting due to temporary or minor incontinency." It has
a snap-off pouch lined with "Olefin .. the new miracle-dry fabric."

The 1920s Marpage athletic
supporter with "rip proof" pouch from Martin Bros., Middlesboro, KY.

This MediSport athletic
supporter from Medisport International, Petersfield, England. A comfortable
lightweight breathable pouch with firm elasticated waistband and leg straps.

Mirrekord "soporte faja
angosta" regular band adult supporter with a sturdy 3" elastic waistband
and rib-knit pouch. The waistband has red and black tracer lines. From
Laboratorios LeRoy s.a.de c.v., Mexico.

This Model A333
Nationman Athletic Supporter
from Thailand features a pouch made of the same heavy elastic material that
is used for the waistband and leg straps.

Swedish PiPeer Swim-Action
Athletic Brief from Piper Brace offers vital protection and comforting support
for the active man. This jock of quick-drying nylon and spandex is for the
man who wants comforting support for swimming, golf, bowling or tennis.

Royal Textile Mills in Yanceyville, NC made the
Pro Duke adult athletic
supporter. The pouch contained Biokryl which killed "a broad spectrum of
bacteria including those associated with jock itch."
The Pro Duke Athletic supporter is still being manufactured today.

Red Lion Top-Jock athletic
supporter for all sports. Made in USA.
